Partly Facetious: Musharraf is not suffering the heat wave

"The PML (N) wants to register an FIR against Musharraf."
Published June 4, 2009

"The PML (N) wants to register an FIR against Musharraf."
"Hey, the PML (N) would happily blame Musharraf for even the heat these days."
"And I would tend to agree with them. Had he bothered to invest in energy during his eight years in power we would not be suffering the heat wave quite as much as we are these days."
"Anyway Musharraf is not suffering the heat wave and."
"Because Musharraf installed state-of-the-art generators in his palatial Chak Shahzad residence; or because he is paying a lifeline consumer tariff..."
"That's unfair."
"But he is not paying the tariff he should."
"OK, that's true but I don't think he knew the tariff he was paying. I actually believe that even Raja Pervez Ashraf didn't know that Musharraf was getting energy at subsidised rates."
"OK but the point is Musharraf is not suffering from the energy crisis in the country for which he is responsible because he is not in the country. And for those who may worry about whether he can make ends meet, like Iskander Mirza, they do not need to worry. He has recently bought a house in London...so the money he made in this country, for after all he never worked abroad, anyway he took that money out and spent it on purchasing a flat in London."
"Brings to mind the Surreygate scandal."
"Right it does though Musharraf can claim that he got the money from his book but then the point is did he pay any tax on that income in Pakistan?"
"Don't think so but he was the president at the time and not liable to pay tax."
"But was he empowered to reveal state secrets while he was still in power? That's a no, no in every country of the world."
"So the PML (N) should take him to court for revealing state secrets and getting remuneration in return?"
"What about when he abrogated the constitution? What about when he ordered a lathi charge on the lawyers? What about..."
"OK so there can be many cases against him so why does the PML (N) want to take him to court for Benazir's murder?"
"To embarrass Zardari and the PPP for failing to take Musharraf to task for their leader's murder! But in my book he was the only power base at that time and anything that happened to anyone at that time was his responsibility."
"That is certainly true but by this logic Murataza Bhutto was killed when Benazir was the Prime Minister and..."
"She never had complete control over all the state agencies, did she!"
"I guess."
